Gateless is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our Risk & Operations team. This role is perfect for a professional with experience in mortgage lending, specifically underwriting, who is looking to apply their knowledge in a new and exciting way within a cutting-edge technology environment. Reporting directly to the Senior QC & Audit Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our automated underwriting products for conventional and government loans. Key Responsibilities

• Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly internal QC audits of Gateless’ automated underwriting products and AUS integrations, with a focus on income, asset, employment, credit, document classification, data extraction, automated underwriting decisions, and condition clearing.
• Evaluate and validate income calculations generated by Gateless’ products against established underwriting rules, investor guidelines, and expected underwriting outcomes to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
• Validate document classifications and data extracted through Gateless’ proprietary Doc AI solution against established company and industry data quality standards, ensuring accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.
• Assess the accuracy and quality of automated underwriting outputs and identify potential defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from established underwriting requirements and business rules.
• Audit Gateless’ processing of unstructured data inputs, including but not limited to, employment matching, undisclosed debt identification, and asset analysis, to ensure accurate and compliant underwriting outcomes.
• Assist in the creation, implementation, and documentation of new audit procedures, quality control checks, and testing methodologies as Gateless’ products and capabilities evolve.
• Track audit findings from identification through remediation, assessing severity, potential client impact, and risk exposure, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure issues are appropriately prioritized, escalated, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Support the team in gathering, analyzing, and reporting audit data and findings, ensuring clear communication of trends, risks, and areas for improvement to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Product, Customer Success, and Engineering to investigate findings, identify root causes, and support continuous improvement of Gateless’ automated underwriting systems and processes.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field.
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in the mortgage lending industry, particularly in loan processing, underwriting, quality control, or related function.
• Working knowledge of applicable investor and agency underwriting guidelines, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, and/or VA requirements.
• Strong practical understanding of mortgage underwriting and the calculation of various income types used for loan qualification.
• Experience working with mortgage technology, automated underwriting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, curious mindset; able to learn quickly, adapt to a fast-paced, technology-driven environment, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
